The global spotlight is on Paris as the AI Action Summit, On Monday, against the sumptuous backdrop of the city’s 125-year-old Grand Palais, co-hosted by France and India, kicks off on February 10-11, 2025.

Representatives from 80 countries including world leaders, tech bosses, academics, and other experts, will gather for a two-day global summit to discuss current progress. This high-profile event brings future goals, for the rapidly evolving, hugely-disruptive technology that is artificial intelligence.

The summit, held at the Grand Paris, aims to advance discussions on AI. That might be what’s on the official agenda of Artificial Intelligence. There is something else that’s breathing into this everybody is talking is DeepSeek.

The major objectives include providing access to an independent, safe, and reliable range of users using AI. it focuses on developing more environmentally friendly AI. The main goal is to ensure effective and inclusive global governance of artificial intelligence.

The huge gathering is the result when of AI summits in Bletchley Park, UK (November 2023) and Seoul, South Korea (May 2024). The prototype prioritizes safety commitments.

The event of Paris shifted the focus on AI’s potential concerns disrupting the labor force and national sovereignty increased due to large competition in the AI landscape.

Prof Gina Neff, from the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy at the University of Cambridge, says there is currently “a vacuum for global leadership on AI”.

The submitted agenda is a wide range and it will cover topics including open source labor market implementation and sustainability of energy.

The key focus will be to expand the AI benefits for developing nations. Companies in France like Mistal and China’s deepseek are producing cost-effective models that shook the market.

The most anticipated aspect of the summit is whether China and America can find the common grounds for AI governance. The recent leadership of the U.S. has held a negotiating debate.

On January 20th President Donald Trump took steps to take to President Biden for the initiative of sending U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement.

The Vice President of the U.S. will lead the American delegation, while Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will represent China. Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang European Commission President, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Indian Prime Minster Modi are other high-profiles co-hosting the summit

Unlike other meetings, the event in Paris will focus on the introduction of new AI regulations. The discussion will involve the flexible framework and implementation of the EU AI Act that will foster innovative initiatives.

The approach represents the growing awareness of policy-making in Europe especially in France. The balance of these regulations in the race for AI development is crucial.

Financial investments for the public interest AI projects are expected to be the real outcome of the meeting. Businesses with humane organizations are set on the assurance of $500 million, with an increase to $2.5 billion over the next five years. This investment highlights the recognition of AI’s global challenges and innovation across various sectors.

The world’s attention turns to Paris, the AI action meeting represents the criticalities of global dialogue on Artificial intelligence. The meeting will showcase the importance and developments in AI technology and the future governance with its impact on the world.

Founder of the Future of Life Institute, Prof Max Tegmark shares a warning saying, “Either we develop an amazing AI tool that helps humans, or uncontrollable AGI [Artificial General Intelligence] that replaces humans,”.

“We are unfortunately closer to building AGI than to figuring out how to control it.”

Prof Tegmark hopes the summit will push for binding safety standards “as we have in every other critical industry”.

The outcomes of this summit can be beyond the implications of Artificial intelligence for the future. The competitiveness and consideration of a sustainable environment for economic growth in international cooperation will closely translate the goals that will shape the AI trajectory in the coming years.
