The platforms included Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp before they dropped and were removed.

Victoria Police announced up to 60 students at the school of  Melbourne north-west may be exaggerated by this incident. 

Simon Garner, A Detective Sergeant from Victoria Police’s child abuse team illustrated the situation as”quite disturbing” and “quite disgusting”. He highlighted the vulgar nature of the fabricated images.

The event involves the regular photographs of female students that were reportedly changed by artificial intelligence technology to create adult content. 

The images were then shared online in different group chats initially by Year 11 students. The school took rapid disciplinary action and suspended two students. They were believed to be involved in the creation and allocation of the deepfake images.

In reaction to this incident, Jacinta Allan, a Victorian Premier voiced her indignity and said “Young girls and women earn to feel safe and respected in the classroom, in any room, in any commune across our state. The violating behavior of trust, violation of respect and that which holds not just women and girls back but it also holds the back of men as well.” 

Her comments highlight the societal implications of such events. It reinforces the necessity of actions to address and mitigate this issue.

The Department of Education and Training Victoria has discouraged the behaviour and said,t it is “unacceptable in any Victorian school.” The department has made it certain that Gladstone Park Secondary College has held suitable disciplinary measures that offer well-being and support to students whenever they need it.

Principal Veronica Hoy managed the school community and rendered the incident as “misogynistic and disrespectful.” she reminded parents and students that transmitting real or real or fake nude pictures of the people under 18 is a crime.” The forewarning underlines the legal consequences of creating and sharing awful content no matter the mean of generation.
